Have you ever felt like someone really understood you? More for the things you avoided saying than the things you did?
This story explores that sort of intimacy. The kind that develops apprehensively. The kind that grows, unexpectedly.
Emma thought she had her life figured out. A psychology Master’s student in a new city. It’s a fresh start for her. She keeps herself busy during the day, occupied with classes and work and anything that fills the hours, making sure there’s nothing left to feel when her head hits the pillow at night. She has carefully constructed a world where nothing, and no one, can hurt her.
Then, she meets Clark. A stranger at a party. He’s everything she doesn’t need. Complicated, intense, impossible to ignore. What starts as reluctant proximity becomes something neither of them planned for. They begin to find solace in each other’s company.
What starts as friendship becomes something more. Love in it’s purest form. Being seen and loved for exactly who you are. The good, bad, and the ugly.
But Emma has spent years perfecting the art of not relying on other people. And Clark has his own reasons for keeping people at arm’s length.
Some walls take longer to come down, but sometimes it might be worth the risk?
This is a story about the slow, terrifying process of letting yourself be known.
